Opening acts named for Darius Rucker concert June 23
Event to benefit the Steve Stricker American Family Insurance Foundation
MADISON, Wis. (May 15, 2017) - Country music singer/songwriter Corey Smith and blues/rock group The Ryan McGrath Band will open up for multi-platinum and GRAMMY-winning country artist Darius Rucker Friday, June 23, at Breese Stevens Field in Madison.
The Darius Rucker concert will help kick-off the PGA TOUR Champions American Family Insurance Championship, held June 23-25 at University Ridge.
Corey Smith is from Jefferson, Georgia, and is entering his 11th year as a country music artist, with 10 albums under his belt. Over the course of his career, Smith has sold more than one million tickets, 1.6 million singles and more than 250,000 albums. Most impressively, He has written every single song on every album he’s ever released.
The Ryan McGrath Band is a Madison-based blues/rock band, deeply rooted in classic American music. The band has opened for GRAMMY winner Jennifer Hudson on the campus of Arizona State University, performed in blues-rich St. Louis and has entertained audiences in stadium settings including Indianapolis and Green Bay.
All proceeds from the concert will be donated to the Steve Stricker American Family Insurance Foundation for distribution to American Family Children’s Hospital and other charities impacting families and children in Wisconsin. The inaugural tournament in 2016 raised nearly $1.1 million for charity – one of the highest totals ever for a first-year PGA TOUR Champions event.

About the American Family Insurance Championship
The inaugural PGA TOUR Champions American Family Insurance Championship was held in June 2016, hosted by 12-time PGA TOUR winner and Wisconsin native Steve Stricker. The second annual event will be held June 23-25 in Madison, Wis. at University Ridge Golf Course and will feature a 78-player field competing for a $2 million purse. The no-cut event includes two Pro-Am events on June 21-22, followed by three days of tournament play, June 23-25. Proceeds from the event are donated to the Steve Stricker American Family Insurance Foundation and the American Family Children’s Hospital. More than $1 million in proceeds was donated to charitable organizations from the 2016 event.
