Singh, Montgomerie and Pavin to make debuts at the American Family Insurance Championship

They join tournament host Steve Stricker and others at the June 23-25 tournament

April 17, 2017 - Commitments from three more top players are announced for the 2017 American Family Insurance Championship.

April 17, 2017 - Vijay Singh, Colin Montgomerie and Corey Pavin are coming to Madison to play in the PGA TOUR Champions American Family Insurance Championship for the first time. All three have committed to this year’s tournament, which will be held June 23-25 at University Ridge Golf Course.

“We are absolutely thrilled Vijay, Colin and Corey will be joining us this year. All three are extremely successful competitors who will bring even more excitement for our fans,” said American Family Insurance Championship Tournament Director Nate Pokrass.

Vijay Singh is a 34-time PGA TOUR winner, including major victories at the Masters (2000) and twice at the PGA Championship (2004 and 1998). He continues to compete on both the PGA TOUR and PGA TOUR Champions, with six PGA TOUR Champions appearances in 2016.

Colin Montgomerie counts four wins on the PGA TOUR Champions among his more than 50 professional championships worldwide. In 2016, he enjoyed another highly-successful year on the PGA TOUR Champions with one win among his 10 top-10 finishes and second-place finishes on both the Charles Schwab Cup race and the 2016 money list.

Corey Pavin is a 15-time winner on the PGA TOUR, including the 1995 U.S. Open and two wins (2006 and 1986) at the U.S. Bank Championship in Milwaukee, formerly the Greater Milwaukee Open. After two top-10 finishes in eight events, his 2016 season on the PGA TOUR Champions was cut short due to elbow surgery. He returned to the tour this year.

About the American Family Insurance Championship
The inaugural PGA TOUR Champions American Family Insurance Championship was held in June 2016, hosted by 12-time PGA TOUR winner and Wisconsin native Steve Stricker. The second annual event will be held June 23-25 in Madison, Wis. at University Ridge Golf Course and will feature a 78-player field competing for a $2 million purse. The no-cut event includes two Pro-Am events on June 21-22, followed by three days of tournament play, June 23-25. Proceeds from the event are donated to the Steve Stricker American Family Insurance Foundation and the American Family Children’s Hospital. More than $1 million in proceeds was donated to charitable organizations from the 2016 event.
