Woosnam, Haas and Perry commit to play at the American Family Insurance Championship

Golf legends Ian Woosnam, Jay Haas and Kenny Perry are signed up for the PGA TOUR Champions American Family Insurance Championship June 23-25 at University Ridge Golf Course in Madison.

Ian Woosnam will be the third European golf star to be make his debut at the American Family Insurance Championship, joining Nick Faldo and Colin Montgomerie, who previously committed to this year’s tournament. Woosnam, a native of Wales, won the 1991 Masters, played in eight Ryder Cups and served as captain of the 2006 European Ryder Cup Team. He won the 2015 Insperity Invitational at The Woodlands, Texas, as his sole PGA TOUR Champions title.

Jay Haas became the second-oldest winner in PGA TOUR Champions history in October 2016 when he prevailed in a one-hole playoff over Bart Bryant at the Toshiba Classic. During his career, he has scored 18 PGA TOUR Champions and nine PGA TOUR victories, including the 1981 Greater Milwaukee Open. Haas has played in two Ryder Cups and three Presidents Cups, and served as captain of the 2015 U.S. President’s Cup team.

Kenny Perry is an eight-time winner on the PGA TOUR Champions and holds 14 PGA TOUR titles, including the 2003 Greater Milwaukee Open. He has also played in two Ryder Cups and four Presidents Cups. This year, he’s claimed two second-place finishes on the PGA TOUR Champsions, at the Insperity Invitational and Allianz Championship.

Other previous commitments to the American Family Insurance Championship include tournament host Steve Stricker, Jerry Kelly, Jon Daly, Vijay Singh, Corey Pavin, Billy Andrade, Rocco Mediate, Duffy Waldorf and Skip Kendall.

About the American Family Insurance Championship
The inaugural PGA TOUR Champions American Family Insurance Championship was held in June 2016, hosted by 12-time PGA TOUR winner and Wisconsin native Steve Stricker. The second annual event will be held June 23-25 in Madison, Wis. at University Ridge Golf Course and will feature a 78-player field competing for a $2 million purse.
